New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written the foreword to the Indian edition of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s autobiography, “I Am Giorgia — My Roots, My Principles”, which is set to be launched soon.

PM Modi praises Meloni

In his foreword, PM Modi expressed his “respect and admiration” for Meloni, describing her as a patriot. According to The Indian Express, he reflected on his interactions with world leaders over the past 11 years, noting that their personal stories often embody universal themes—values he also sees in Meloni’s life.

PM Modi referred to the book as “her Mann Ki Baat”, drawing a parallel with his own radio programme of the same name. He wrote: “Prime Minister Meloni’s life and leadership remind us of these timeless truths… It will be well received (in India) as a refreshing story of an outstanding contemporary political leader and a patriot… Her belief in defending one’s cultural heritage, while engaging with the world on equal terms, mirrors our own values.”

About the autobiography

“I Am Giorgia — My Roots, My Principles” chronicles Meloni’s journey from her early life to becoming Italy’s Prime Minister. The book offers insights into her political philosophy, leadership style, and dedication to her country’s cultural heritage. PM Modi’s foreword highlights the alignment of some of these values with India’s own emphasis on cultural pride and global engagement.

Significance in India

The publication of Meloni’s autobiography in India, accompanied by a foreword from PM Modi, is expected to generate interest among readers keen on understanding international political leadership through a personal lens. Observers note that the foreword not only endorses the book but also symbolically strengthens diplomatic and cultural ties between India and Italy.
