Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a three-day visit to the United States starting September 21. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced that the visit will focus on PM Modi’s participation in the annual Quad Summit and his address at the ‘Summit of the Future,’ hosted by the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Quad Summit, scheduled for September 21, will take place in Wilmington, Delaware. US President Joe Biden will host this fourth gathering of leaders from India, the United States, Japan, and Australia, aimed at strengthening cooperation among these democratic nations. The agenda is expected to focus on regional security, economic partnerships, and critical technologies.

Address at the ‘Summit of the Future’
Prime Minister Modi will address the ‘Summit of the Future’ on September 23 at the UN General Assembly in New York. This year’s summit, themed ‘Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow,’ will delve into global challenges such as climate change, digital transformation, and sustainable development. PM Modi’s speech is anticipated to highlight India’s contributions to global solutions and its evolving role in multilateral diplomacy.

Interaction with the Indian Community
During the trip, Prime Minister Modi will also take time to engage with the Indian diaspora. On September 22, he will address a large gathering of the Indian community in New York. This interaction is expected to bolster the strong ties between India and its diaspora in the US, a key factor in enhancing bilateral relations.

Strengthening Ties with the US
PM Modi’s visit comes at a time when India-US relations continue to deepen across multiple sectors, including defence, technology, and trade. His participation in these summits is seen as a significant step in reaffirming India’s commitment to multilateralism and its partnerships within the Indo-Pacific region.
