Andhra Pradesh, October 16:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Andhra Pradesh on Thursday for multiple engagements, during which he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for projects worth Rs 13,430 crore. The projects span critical sectors such as industry, power transmission, roads, railways, defence manufacturing, and petroleum and natural gas.

Visit Itinerary

  • Srisailam (Nandyal district): PM Modi will begin the day with a pooja and darshan at Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam, followed by a visit to Sree Shivaji Spoorthi Kendra.
  • Kurnool: He will participate in the “Super GST Super Savings” event and oversee multiple inaugurations and foundation stone-laying ceremonies.

Key Projects

Power Transmission:

  • Foundation stone for Transmission System Strengthening at Kurnool-III Pooling Station with an investment of over Rs 2,880 crore.
  • Includes a 765 KV double-circuit transmission line, boosting transformation capacity by 6,000 MVA to support large-scale renewable energy transmission.

Industrial Development:

  • Foundation stones for Orvakal Industrial Area (Kurnool) and Kopparthy Industrial Area (Kadapa) with a total investment of over Rs 4,920 crore.
  • Developed by NICDIT and APIIC, these hubs feature plug-and-play infrastructure and a walk-to-work concept.
  • Expected to attract Rs 21,000 crore in investments and create around one lakh jobs.

Roads & Highways:

  • Foundation stone for six-lane greenfield highway from Sabbavaram to Sheelanagar (Rs 960 crore).
  • Inaugurations: four-laning of Pileru-Kalur section, Kadapa-Nellore widening, Rail Over Bridge between Gudivada and Nujella, and Kanigiri Bypass on NH-565.

Railway Projects:

  • Foundation stones: Kothavalasa-Vizianagaram Fourth Railway Line and Rail Flyover between Pendurti and Simhachalam North.
  • Inaugurations: doubling of Kottavalasa-Boddavara and Shimiliguda-Gorapur sections.

Energy & Defence Manufacturing:

  • Inauguration of Srikakulam-Angul Natural Gas Pipeline (GAIL India Limited) – 124 km in Andhra Pradesh and 298 km in Odisha (Rs 1,730 crore).
  • Inauguration of Indian Oil’s 60 TMTPA LPG bottling plant at Chittoor (Rs 200 crore).
  • Inauguration of Advanced Night Vision Products Factory at Nimmaluru, Krishna district (Bharat Electronics Limited, Rs 360 crore).

Super GST Super Savings Event

PM Modi will also attend the “Super GST Super Savings” event in Kurnool. The programme celebrates the overhaul of the GST regime, which reduced tax rates on multiple everyday items such as hair oil, cornflakes, personal health, and life insurance policies.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu extended the invitation for this event and highlighted that PM Modi will explain the benefits of the GST reforms to the people.

Additional Initiatives

  • PM Modi is expected to lay the foundation for “Drone City” at Srisailam, part of Andhra Pradesh’s advanced technology and industrial infrastructure initiatives.
  • Security arrangements are being made in view of the Prime Minister’s visit.
