Earlier in the day, PM Modi will visit the Nalanda ruins at 9:45 am. These ruins, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2016, hold significant historical value.

Emphasizing the historical significance of Nalanda, PM Modi remarked, “It’s a momentous day for our education sector. At 10:30 am today, the new campus of Nalanda University will be inaugurated in Rajgir. Nalanda has a deep connection with our glorious past. This university will play a pivotal role in meeting the educational needs of our youth.”

The campus boasts two academic blocks housing 40 classrooms with a seating capacity of approximately 1,900, along with two auditoriums accommodating 300 individuals each. Additional facilities include a student hostel for around 550 students, an international center, an amphitheater seating up to 2,000, a faculty club, and a sports complex.

Distinguished as a ‘Net Zero’ Green Campus, it sustains itself with solar plants, water treatment and recycling facilities, 100 acres of water bodies, and other eco-friendly features.

Founded through collaboration between India and East Asia Summit (EAS) countries, Nalanda University pays homage to its rich historical legacy. The original Nalanda University, established over 1,600 years ago, holds the distinction of being one of the earliest residential universities globally.
