Bengaluru: Delay in the implementation of the farm loan waiver scheme by the JDS-led Karnataka government is creating an embarrassing situation for the ally, Congress in other states across the country. On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the issue at his Rae Bareli rally in Uttar Pradesh to point out how the assurances of the Congress are turning out to be mere empty promises.
Addressing a mammoth rally in Rae Bareli which is represented by Sonia Gandhi in Lok Sabha, Modi tore into the Congress by using the failure of the Karnataka government in the implementation of the farm loan waiver scheme. “Coalition government assured farm loan waiver scheme six months ago. But farmers are getting notice. This is how the administration works,” he alleged.
As expected, State Congress leaders are worried a lot over the issue. “We will raise the issue with CM HD Kumaraswamy in Belagavi today,” informed a senior Congress leader.
