Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the newly-inaugurated Vantara, an animal rescue and rehabilitation centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat, on Tuesday. This state-of-the-art facility is home to more than 1.5 lakh rescued animals and plays a vital role in wildlife conservation efforts.

During his visit, PM Modi engaged with various animals, showcasing his affection for wildlife. He spent time with Asiatic lion cubs, white lion cubs, leopard cubs, and many endangered species. A heartwarming moment was captured as he interacted with snow tigers, white lions, and a snow leopard, with a glass partition between them. The Prime Minister also mingled with giraffes, elephants, parrots, and other creatures, further emphasizing the importance of wildlife protection in India.

In a series of posts shared on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi showcased images of himself feeding water to lion cubs and an orphaned baby rhinoceros. He was also seen patting an okapi, hugging an orangutan, and observing crocodiles, a large python, and a two-headed snake.

PM Modi praised the centre’s efforts, calling Vantara a shining example of India’s commitment to wildlife conservation and its ancient ethos of protecting all life on Earth. The Prime Minister also visited the wildlife hospital, where he was briefed on advanced veterinary services, including MRI, CT scans, and ICUs for animals. He also witnessed a life-saving surgery on a leopard injured in a highway accident.

Spread across 3,000 acres, Vantara is currently home to over 2,000 endangered species, providing a sanctuary that mimics their natural habitats.
