The BJP, in alliance with TDP and Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena, emerged victorious in both the Lok Sabha and Andhra Pradesh elections, securing a significant majority. Pawan Kalyan was subsequently sworn in as a minister.
With the alliance’s triumph, comprising 164 out of 175 Assembly seats and 21 of Andhra’s 25 Lok Sabha seats, TDP’s support became pivotal for BJP’s coalition government formation at the center, following its shortfall of the majority mark.
The BJP and TDP rekindled their alliance just before the elections, marking Chandrababu Naidu’s return to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) after a six-year hiatus. TDP’s reentry into the NDA fold, after its exit in 2018 due to concerns over state financial support, further solidified the coalition’s strength.
