The Andheri Court in Mumbai has extended the police custody of 27-year-old Delhi resident Aditya Pandit until Monday in connection with the abetment of suicide of Air India pilot Srishti Tuli, 25. Tuli was found dead in her rented house near Marol Police Quarters on November 25. Pandit, who had been arrested by the Powai police, is believed to have been the last person in contact with Tuli before her death.
The police have sought additional time to investigate further and retrieve deleted WhatsApp chats between Pandit and Tuli from his mobile phone, which they believe could provide crucial evidence regarding the events leading to her death. According to the Powai police, Tuli had made a video call to Pandit shortly before taking her own life, and investigators believe their argument contributed to her distress.
Pandit’s failure to alert the police about Tuli’s self-harm threats and his decision to access her locked residence without involving law enforcement have raised suspicion about his involvement. Police found multiple phone calls and missed calls from Tuli to Pandit around the time he claimed he was returning to prevent her actions. Additionally, investigators are working with forensic experts to recover deleted messages from Pandit’s phone, as he reportedly deleted communications with Tuli after her death.
Tuli had reportedly threatened self-harm before Pandit left for Delhi, and she allegedly expressed her intentions during a video call. Pandit returned to Mumbai, but instead of contacting the police when he found her door locked, he engaged a locksmith, discovered her unresponsive, and took her to the hospital. She was later pronounced dead at Seven Hills Hospital in Marol.
