NELLORE: In a proactive step to curb law and order issues, Nellore Rural police launched a community outreach drive in hyper-sensitive villages under the supervision of Superintendent of Police G. Krishnakanth. On Friday, officers formed into teams and conducted meetings in various villages of Nellore rural mandal.
During the sessions, police urged locals to stay away from politically-driven clashes and property disputes, emphasizing the need for communal peace. Elders were requested to guide the youth away from anti-social activities, while parents were advised to monitor their children’s behavior closely and intervene early if signs of trouble arise.
Officials also outlined the legal consequences of crimes like ganja and sand smuggling, illicit liquor trade, sexual offenses, and cyber fraud. They highlighted that a majority of complaints during the Public Grievance Redress System (PGRS) on Mondays stem from land disputes.
To reduce these cases and prevent escalation into criminal activity, police encouraged village leaders to resolve such issues through ‘Gentleman Agreements (GMA)’, promoting local resolution over legal confrontation.
This initiative aims to build trust between the police and public while fostering a safer, more cohesive rural society.
