Police have launched an inquiry into an alleged plan to poison animals at Mangaluru’s Pilikula Biological Park, Dakshina Kannada. The investigation began after Park Director filed a complaint, though no FIR has yet been registered, Kavoor Police confirmed.
According to the complaint, Khader had been contracted to supply meat for the park’s carnivores, with Abbas and Haneef handling delivery. This month, a new supplier won the tender. Allegedly, on August 7, Haneef phoned park employee Harish, urging him to mix rotten or poisoned meat with the fresh supply from the new contractor.
A recording of this conversation has been handed to police. Acting on the Deputy Commissioner’s directions, the park’s Director lodged the complaint.
Pilikula Commissioner Dr Arun Kumar Shetty assured that the animals remain safe and the complaint was filed as a preventive step.
