Pune: Investigators probing the alleged murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agrawal have uncovered fresh details that they believe point to extensive planning before the crime. According to police sources, the accused allegedly carried out online searches about ways to commit the murder, visited the crime scene in advance and discussed how to make the incident appear to be an accident.

The case relates to the death of Ketan Agrawal, who was allegedly pushed into a gorge at Lohagad Fort in Maharashtra on June 18. Police have arrested Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary in connection with the case. The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations against the accused are yet to be tested in court.

Police suspect online planning before the crime

According to police sources, investigators found evidence suggesting that the accused searched the internet for various methods of committing the alleged murder.

The searches reportedly included ways to stage the incident as an accidental fall and identify a location at Lohagad Fort where a push from a cliff could appear accidental.

Investigators are also examining digital evidence to establish the timeline of these searches and determine how they may have been linked to the alleged crime.

Police are continuing to analyse electronic devices recovered during the investigation.

Poison angle under investigation

Investigators are also exploring whether the accused considered poisoning Ketan Agrawal before allegedly deciding on another method.

According to police sources, online searches allegedly included questions about using poison to kill someone and avoiding detection after committing the crime.

Police further suspect that the accused discussed possible responses they could give during questioning and planned to portray the incident as an accidental fall.

These findings form part of the ongoing investigation and have not yet been independently verified in court.

Alleged recce and rehearsal at Lohagad Fort

Police believe the accused visited Lohagad Fort several days before the incident to survey the location.

Investigators suspect the visit was intended to identify the exact spot where the alleged crime could be carried out and may also have served as a rehearsal for the plan.

Officials are examining witness statements, location data and other evidence to verify the movements of the accused before the incident.

The alleged advance visit is considered an important aspect of the investigation into whether the crime was premeditated.

Crime scene recreated during investigation

As part of the investigation, police recreated the alleged crime scene at Lohagad Fort with accused Siya Goyal.

According to police sources, the reconstruction began at around 8.30 am, with investigators retracing the route allegedly taken on the day of the incident.

Siya allegedly pointed out the location where co-accused Chetan Chaudhary was hiding before the alleged attack and identified the exact spot from where Ketan Agrawal was allegedly pushed into the gorge.

Investigators also used a mannequin to recreate the sequence of events and better understand how the alleged crime unfolded.

The reconstruction is expected to help police corroborate statements made during the investigation with physical evidence collected from the site.

Investigation continues

Police are continuing to examine forensic evidence, digital records and witness testimonies to establish the sequence of events leading up to the incident.
