New Delhi: Close of the heels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi hinting that may bid adieu to social media soon, many leaders have come up with various theories around this decision.
While most of the fans and supporters of the PM have asked him not to quit social media, his opponents, mainly the Congress leaders have analysed the move from various angles.
Prelude for Banning
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, commenting on the PM’s tweet said that it could be a ‘prelude to banning’ social media!
“The PM’s abrupt announcement has led many to worry whether it’s a prelude to banning these services throughout the country too. As @narendramodi knows well, social media can also be a force for good & for positive & useful messaging. It doesn’t have to be about spreading hate,” Tharoor tweeted.
War of words
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s tweet, “give up hatred, not social media accounts” as response to PM’s social media tweet irked BJP leader Babul Supriyo.Supriyo, in response asked RaGa to go for “international roaming packs” when “tweeting from holidays abroad”
“Bhai.. when you tweet frm your holidays abroad, your network provider charges at least 4 times more for Data Usage.. But 10day/15 days International Roaming packs are available.. try availing that in your next trip.. For your short stays in India, you may use normal Data Packs ,” Supriyo said in a tweet.
Political commentator Sudheendra Kulkarni, a vocal critic of PM Modi warned of “a big assault on… freedom of expression…””A big assault on Indian people’s FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION and COMMUNICATION – and hence on DEMOCRACY- could be coming. Time to be vigilant,” Kulkarni tweeted.
