President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed warm Easter wishes on Sunday, emphasizing themes of peace, hope, and compassion.

Taking to X, President Murmu shared, “Easter greetings to all! On this occasion, we commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This festival ignites new hope and fresh beginnings. His teachings encourage us to walk the path of love and selflessness. May this joyful celebration bring harmony and prosperity to everyone.”

Prime Minister Modi echoed similar sentiments in his message, stating, “Wishing everyone a blessed and joyous Easter. This Easter is especially meaningful as the Jubilee Year is being celebrated across the world. May this holy day fill every heart with renewal and kindness. Let peace and happiness prevail.”

Easter, a cornerstone of Christian faith, commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day following his crucifixion. As per biblical accounts, it signifies victory over death and the promise of eternal life.

Unlike Christmas, Easter doesn’t have a fixed calendar date. It is observed on the first Sunday following the full moon after the spring equinox, typically between March 22 and April 25. This lunar-based calculation causes its date to vary annually and also results in differing observance dates between Eastern and Western Christian traditions.

Holy Week, starting with Palm Sunday, leads up to Easter and recalls the Passion of Christ—His final days in Jerusalem, culminating in His crucifixion and resurrection.
