Priyanka Gandhi’s heartfelt appeal: “Do I truly deserve this love?”
During a roadshow held in Nilambur on Sunday, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi expressed heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming affection she receives from the public. Campaigning for Congress bypoll candidate Aryadan Shoukath, she admitted that the warmth she encounters often leaves her reflective.
“Each night, I lie awake questioning if I am truly worthy of this love,” she confessed, adding that the people’s determination in the face of adversity continues to deeply inspire her.
Representing the constituency since December 2024, Priyanka said her visits across the region have opened her eyes to the community’s daily hurdles. She applauded the indomitable spirit of its youth and women, while sharply criticising the ruling government for failing to ensure employment and essential services.
She warned that lack of opportunities had driven several young people into hopelessness and substance abuse. She also spoke out in support of ASHA workers, highlighting how they continue to fight for fair wages and retirement rights despite their unwavering commitment during the pandemic.
Priyanka drew attention to the recurring human-wildlife conflicts, recounting her recent visit to the family of a victim of a tiger attack — the seventh such family she has met. She urged the government to take firm action to protect citizens.
Slamming the government for putting politics before public welfare, she encouraged voters to think critically about broken promises. She urged support for Shoukath, promising continued efforts until Congress forms the government.
