Popular Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda, who was critically injured in a road accident in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla last month, passed away on Wednesday. He was 35. The singer had been undergoing treatment at Fortis Hospital in Mohali since September 27, where he succumbed to multiple organ failure on October 8.

Fortis Hospital confirms death

In an official statement, Fortis Hospital, Mohali, said that Rajvir Jawanda was admitted in an extremely critical condition following a severe road accident.

“He was admitted on September 27, 2025, with spinal injuries and brain damage. Despite extensive medical support and continuous monitoring by the Critical Care and Neurosurgery teams, he succumbed to multiple organ failure this morning,” the hospital stated.

“Our deepest condolences to his family and fans,” it added.

The singer’s body was handed over to his family after completion of post-mortem formalities. His last rites are expected to take place in his native village in Ludhiana district.

Accident in Himachal Pradesh

According to police, the accident occurred in the Baddi area of Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district while Jawanda was travelling to Shimla on his motorcycle on September 27. He reportedly lost control of the vehicle, leading to a crash that caused severe head and spinal injuries.

The local authorities rushed him to a nearby hospital for first aid before transferring him to Fortis Hospital in Mohali, where he was kept on ventilator support for over ten days. Doctors described his condition as “extremely critical” throughout his stay.

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains expressed his grief over the untimely demise. “Deeply saddened to hear about the tragic passing of renowned Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda. My heartfelt condolences to his family and admirers,” he said.

Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, also paid tribute to the late singer on social media.

“Saddened by the passing away of Rajvir Jawanda ji. We all prayed for his speedy recovery but sadly God had other plans. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and fans who are shattered with this tragic loss. May Waheguru grant eternal peace to the departed soul,” Warring wrote on X.

Born in Pona village in Ludhiana’s Jagraon, Rajvir Jawanda rose to prominence with hit tracks such as Tu Dis Penda, Khush Reha Kar, Sardari, Surname, Afreen, Landlord, Down to Earth, and Kangani.

Apart from his singing career, he also acted in Punjabi films including Subedar Joginder Singh (2018) alongside Gippy Grewal, as well as Jind Jaan (2019) and Mindo Taseeldarni (2019).
