Sabarimala tantri Kandaru Rajeevaru
Kochi: The controversy surrounding the entry of women entry into Sabarimala’s Swamy Ayyappa temple is inviting fresh debates and criticisms on a daily basis. Now it’s one of the senior ministers from the Pinarayi Vijayan-led CPI(M) government, who has verbally attacked the tantri Kandaru Rajeevaru (chief priest) of the Sabarimala shrine.
The PWD (Public Works Department) Minister G Sudhakaran has termed Rajeevaru a “Brahmin monster”, as he had purified the sanctum sanctorum and the temple premises after two women activists namely Bindu and Kanakadurga had entered the shrine.
Sudhakaran has also asked the priest that could someone be considered a human after treating his own sister as “impure.”
He has gone ahead and said that the tantri is an impure Brahmin who had no love and faith towards Lord Ayyappa.
Earlier on January 2, Kanakadurga and Bindu who are under the age of 50, became the first women devotees to enter the Sabarimala sanctum after a historic verdict by the Supreme Court.
