New Delhi: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, January 31, mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the unemployment data was made public.
According to a report by the Business Standard, the National Sample Survey Office’s Periodic Labour Force Survey has recorded the unemployment rate in India at a 45-year-high of 6.1% in 2017-’18.
The report has not been made public with two members of the National Statistical Commission alleging that the government was delaying the data. The data was collected between July 2017 and June 2018. The survey is the first on employment made by a government agency since demonetisation, and also the first annual household survey of the National Sample Survey Office.
Rahul Gandhi has termed the job creation report card as a ‘national disaster.’
“Five years later, his leaked job creation report card reveals a national disaster,” tweeted Gandhi.
#HowstheJobs shot up as the top trend on Twitter, a parody of the immensely popular ‘How’s the Josh’ punch-line from the movie Uri: The Surgical Strike.
