In Rajasthan’s Ajmer, a Class 12 student has alleged that she was prevented from taking her board examination due to being gang-raped last year.

She claimed that her teachers instructed her to study at home, asserting that her presence would disrupt the school environment. This disturbing revelation surfaced when the victim reached out to the Child Welfare Committee to report the incident.

According to Anjali Sharma, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, the survivor stated in her complaint that despite having sat for the board exams four months earlier, the school failed to issue her an admit card for the examination.

The school allegedly informed her that her name had been removed from the list of exam candidates. Upon being informed of the situation, Sharma took immediate action by writing to the District Education Officer, urging strict measures against the school and ensuring that the survivor’s academic progress was not hindered.

Sharma emphasized that despite appearing for the board examination in December last year, the victim was unjustly denied the opportunity to take the exam. Furthermore, Sharma stated that a copy of their letter had been forwarded to the District Collector, and discussions were ongoing with the District Legal Services Authority to ensure the survivor received necessary legal assistance.

Despite the conclusion of the board examination, the Child Welfare Committee expressed its commitment to facilitating the survivor’s participation in the supplementary examination.
