During his election speech in Nalbari, Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paused to honor Lord Ram on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami. He expressed his emotional reaction upon watching the historic event unfold via video. “Following my rally in Nalbari, I viewed the Surya Tilak ceremony at Ram Lalla’s abode. Like millions of fellow Indians, this moment deeply moved me. The significant Ram Navami celebrations in Ayodhya mark a historic milestone. May this sacred ceremony imbue our lives with vitality and inspire our nation to achieve greater heights,” he shared in a recent social media post.

Just before sharing images of himself watching the Surya Tilak video, PM Modi invited the people of Nalbari to join him in paying homage to Lord Ram. Addressing the public, he encouraged everyone to illuminate their mobile phone flashlights as a gesture of reverence. “Even in broad daylight, we can participate in Lord Ram’s Surya Tilak by shining the light from our phones,” he emphasized, leading the crowd in chanting “Jai Shree Ram.”

The ‘Surya Tilak’ ceremony, held at noon at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, involved the strategic placement of lenses and mirrors to illuminate the idol’s forehead precisely at noon. Lasting around 2.5 to 3 minutes, temple priests conducted prayers and performed Lord Ram’s aarti during the ceremony, which featured a ‘Surya Tilak’ approximately 58 mm in diameter. You can watch the historic ceremony video below.
