Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police Director General Jagmohan Yadav stoked a controversy on Tuesday, December 15 with his statement on rapes and rising crime against women.
While addressing a press conference, Jagmohan Yadav said rapes were a common phenomenon happening in all the states and that rapes were committed even during ‘Ram Rajya’.
BJP’s Vijay Bahadur Pathak condemned Yadav’s statements as unwarranted and irresponsible.
In the past too, Yadav has stirred controversies but the state government has paid no heed to it owing to the police officer’s alleged proximity to the family of Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.
