A choreographer associated with a Telugu reality show has been taken into custody in a sensitive case involving his minor stepdaughter. The accused was arrested by Gachibowli Police from Bengaluru and brought to Hyderabad two weeks ago. The case became known publicly only recently.
The matter came to light after the man’s wife filed a complaint, stating that he had behaved inappropriately with her 14-year-old daughter on several occasions. She also alleged that he frequently pressured her for money. Initially, she sought help from a family member but chose to approach the police when no support was offered.
Based on the complaint, authorities registered a case under sections 75 and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with applicable charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused has now been placed in judicial custody while the investigation continues.
This incident follows another high-profile case involving a well-known choreographer, who was previously accused of misconduct by a 21-year-old woman. In that instance, the survivor also claimed that the inappropriate acts began when she was underage. That case was registered under the POCSO Act, along with sections related to threats and personal harm under the Indian Penal Code.
The back-to-back complaints from within the entertainment industry highlight the growing need for safer environments, especially for women and minors in professional spaces.
