Tirunelveli: A viral video showing a group of individuals performing life-threatening stunts on a moving Audi car along a highway in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli district has prompted swift police action. The footage shows some people sitting atop the car while others dangerously swung from the open doors — all while the vehicle was in motion.

Police have filed an FIR against the individuals under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 281 (rash and dangerous driving), Section 125 (acts endangering others’ lives), and Section 110 (attempt to commit homicide not amounting to murder). A special task force has been set up to track down the car and apprehend those involved. Authorities suspect the participants may have been intoxicated, pending confirmation through investigation.

A senior officer commented, “The actions seen in the video were extremely reckless and could have endangered multiple lives. We will take stringent action.”

This comes shortly after a similar stunt in Bengaluru, where a couple was filmed engaging in indecent behavior through a sunroof on Trinity Road. That incident led to a ₹1,500 fine after the Traffic Police tracked down the car using its registration number.

Both cases have raised alarm over growing traffic violations being glamorized on social media and have triggered fresh calls for stricter enforcement of road safety norms.
