Delhi : India is gearing up with fervor and grandeur to celebrate its 75th Republic Day on Friday, marked by an iconic parade starting at Kartavya Path in Delhi at 10:30 am. The event will showcase marches by various contingents of the Armed Forces and tableaux representing different states and central departments.
To facilitate smooth commuting for attendees, the Delhi Metro has announced special arrangements. Services will commence at 4:00 am on all lines, operating at a 30-minute frequency until 6:00 am, after which regular timings will resume. Commuters holding valid e-invitation cards or e-tickets for the Republic Day ceremony can obtain coupons for exit and return journeys at designated metro stations upon presenting government-issued photo IDs.
In addition to metro services, the Delhi Traffic Police have issued advisories outlining traffic restrictions and alternative routes. Various roads along the parade route, including Kartavya Path, will experience closures from specific timings to ensure the procession’s smooth passage. Alternative routes have been suggested to help commuters navigate around these closures.
Parking arrangements have also been detailed to manage congestion effectively. Parking spots near Vigyan Bhawan will be prioritized, with overflow parking available at designated areas nearby.
As part of the festivities, a specially wrapped metro train celebrating the 75th Republic Day was inaugurated at Mandi House Metro Station on the Violet Line. The event saw the participation of Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Managing Director Vikas Kumar, who interacted with specially-abled children present at the occasion.
The public has been encouraged to utilize public transport to reach Kartavya Path, emphasizing the importance of collective participation in commemorating this significant national event.
