A shocking road rage incident in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior left a retired Army personnel injured after he was dragged on the bonnet of a car for nearly 500 metres following a minor collision on Saturday night. Police have launched a manhunt for the accused, aided by a video of the incident that has surfaced online.

Incident at busy intersection

The incident occurred around 11 pm near DD Nagar chowk on Bhind Road. The victim, Kalyan Kishore Kant Sharma, a resident of Ganesh Colony in Adityapuram, was returning home with his brother-in-law Avadhesh Sharma from Prestige College when their car collided with another vehicle near Adityaj Hotel.

According to police, the occupants of the other car got out and began verbally abusing the duo. When the retired soldier and his relative objected, the youths allegedly assaulted them.

Dragged for 500 metres

As bystanders gathered, the accused attempted to flee. Sharma stood in front of the car to stop it, but the driver accelerated instead, hitting him and throwing him onto the bonnet. He clung to the vehicle as it sped away, dragging him for nearly 500 metres.

After some distance, the car abruptly braked, throwing Sharma onto the road. The accused then fled the scene.

Case registered; accused being traced

The injured immediately alerted the police and later lodged a complaint at Maharajpura Police Station. A case has been registered on the basis of the complaint filed by Avadhesh Sharma.

Police officials said the 16-second video clip circulating online is being examined to identify the suspects. The vehicle’s registration number has also been traced, and teams are working to locate the accused.

The incident has sparked outrage locally, with residents demanding swift arrests and stricter action against reckless driving and road rage. Police said further investigation is underway and assured that the accused will be brought to justice.
