Retired UP cop beaten to death as passers-by watch

Allahabad: In a shocking and tragic incident, a retired policeman was brutally beaten within an inch of his life in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday, September 3. The entire assault was captured on CCTV camera, where it can be seen that the retired cop, Abdul Samad Khan, is being beaten by three stick-wielding men, one of whom has been identified as Junaid, a notorious criminal with a long list of cases against him.

In the footage, Khan can be seen with his bicycle when he is approached by a man wearing a red shirt, who begins the assault. Later, two more people are seen joining the assault. At first, Khan is seen trying in vain to defend himself. He later gives in at takes the blows to his body. The attackers then leave the bleeding half-dead Khan sitting against a wall.

The 40-second long CCTV footage also captured another shocking sight… by-standers and passers-by watching the whole horrific episode unfurl before their eyes. People are seen either walking by or pausing to take in the scene for a few seconds and continuing on their way.

The badly injured Khan was later taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

According to the police, preliminary investigations into the case suggest a likely feud over property is the reason behind the attack. So far, ten people have been listed in the FIR, although, no arrests have been made.
