A wedding ceremony in Surat took an unexpected turn when it was disrupted due to an alleged food shortage at the venue, but the bride’s determination led to a surprising resolution at a police station. The unusual incident occurred in the Varachha area of Surat on Sunday.

Rahul Pramod Mahto and Anjali Kumari, both hailing from Bihar, were set to marry at Lakshmi Hall. As the ceremony was nearing completion, the groom’s family halted the proceedings, citing a shortage of food for guests. Most rituals had already been performed, with only the exchange of garlands remaining.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Alok Kumar, tensions between the two families escalated when the groom’s side refused to proceed with the wedding over the food issue. The bride, feeling distressed by her in-laws’ actions, approached the police for assistance, expressing that her fiancé was ready to marry but his family was unwilling to continue.

The groom’s family was called to the police station for discussions. After intervention, they agreed to resume the wedding. However, the bride, concerned about further conflict if they returned to the wedding venue, requested that the final rituals be conducted at the station.

To support the bride’s wishes and ensure her future happiness, the police allowed the couple to complete the ceremony, making the police station an unlikely wedding venue.
