New Delhi: In what has been called as a “courtesy call”, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat called on President Pranab Mukherjee and had a meeting that lasted over 30 minutes.
During the meeting Bhagwat and Mukherjee exchanged pleasantries, officials said. “Mohan Bhagwat paid a courtesy call on President Mukherjee on the eve of Diwali,” according to the official twitter account of the President. It also posted a picture of the President and Bhagwat.
Bhagwat’s meeting with Mukherjee comes against the backdrop of petitions to him against the rise of intolerance in the country with groups seen close to the Sangh targeting writers and others for speaking out on the controversial issues.
On November 2, the RSS ended its three-day conclave of the Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini Mandal (ABKM) in Ranchi by paying tributes to slain Kannada writer M M Kalburgi among others.
