As we approach June 1, brace yourself for a slew of rule changes that are set to shake up daily routines. Staying informed is key as these adjustments touch upon various aspects of life including LPG cylinder usage, banking schedules, Aadhaar updates, and driving license protocols.
Let’s delve into the pivotal changes slated to kick in from June 1 onward.
New Driving License Regulations
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has unveiled fresh regulations governing the acquisition of driving licenses in India. Effective June 1, 2024, individuals can now undertake driving tests at privately-run driving training centers, a departure from the traditional government RTOs. These accredited centers will administer tests and issue certifications for license eligibility.
The revamped rules also carry an environmental agenda, aiming to curtail pollution by phasing out around 900,000 aging government vehicles while implementing stricter car emission standards.
Fines for speeding will remain within the range of ₹ 1,000 to ₹ 2,000. However, the penalty for minors caught behind the wheel will escalate significantly to ₹ 25,000. Moreover, the vehicle owner’s registration card will be revoked, and the underage driver will be barred from obtaining a license until they reach the age of 25.
Aadhaar Card Updates
For those considering an update to their Aadhaar Card, the window remains open until June 14. Users can conveniently process their Aadhaar card updates online, although opting for offline methods incurs a fee of ₹ 50 per update.
LPG Cylinder Prices
The first of June marks the adjustment of LPG cylinder prices by oil companies. Following a reduction in commercial cylinder prices in May, there’s anticipation for further price adjustments in June. Additionally, the routine fluctuations in petrol and diesel prices are anticipated on June 1 as well.
Bank Holiday Schedule in June
Referencing the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday calendar, banks are slated to remain closed for 10 days in June, encompassing Sundays along with the second and fourth Saturdays. Notable holidays in June include Raja Sankranti and Eid-ul-Adha. It’s advisable to consult the holiday schedule before planning any bank-related errands.
