Sabarimala row: Houses of MLA, MP bombed

Kerala: Malabar continues to burn following entry of women into the Sabarimala temple. The houses of an MLA and an MP were bombed in Kannur on Saturday, in the continued mayhem.

Kannur is notorious for political clashes between the left and the right wings.

A total of 3000 persons were arrested on Saturday as police cracked down on those involving in violence. Prohibitory orders were enforced in many areas to contain recurring violence.

An explosion was reported from Perambra in the Kozhikode district, while a CPI(M) worker’s house was attacked. An office of the RSS was also set on fire early on Saturday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the state on January 15 and 27 and BJP national president Amit Shah, in the first week of February, according to party sources.
