Kerala: Condemning the verdict of the Apex Court on the entry for women in the Sabarimala temple, Shiv Sena has decided to call for a day-long hartal throughout Kerala on October 1. The protestors have ensured that the hospital and emergency services will not be affected.

“Shiva Sena will file a review petition against the verdict in association with other religious institutions,” MS Bhuvanachandran, the Kerala Rajya Pramukh of the organisation said in a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday. He also claimed the only reason the RSS welcomed the verdict was because it had a political agenda of its own.

Claiming that the temple traditions and rituals were way older than the Constitution, he said that the court must take rituals into consideration as well and not base the verdict only on logic.

“Such verdicts will make people lose respect and trust on the Supreme Court,” he said adding that right to worship cannot be decided by the Constitution.
