New Delhi: The Supreme Court was asked to direct the Centre in laying down guidelines pertaining to protests and the obstruction of public movement.
In a petition filed before the apex court, Nand Kishore Garg sought a court direction to all respondents (including Union of India) to establish “detailed, comprehensive, and exhaustive guidelines” for conducting protests without leading to obstruction in public spaces.
The petitioner has also sought the Centre’s reply on the removal of Shaheen Bagh protesters who have been sitting in an indefinite protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act. The protesters have reportedly taken up one lane of the road connecting Delhi and Noida.
