Over 1,500 scooters intended for meritorious girls from low-income families in Banswara, Rajasthan, are languishing unused due to bureaucratic delays. Purchased under the Kali Bai Bheel Scooty Scheme, aimed at encouraging higher education, these scooters, bought at ₹80,000 each, now face deterioration on college grounds since 2023.

The change in government and the model code of conduct for elections halted their distribution, prompting criticism from opposition leaders who labeled the situation as “criminal neglect.” Rajasthan’s Tribal Welfare Minister assured distribution within a week and promised action against negligent officials.
