Jammu: Seven persons including a lady pilot died after a helicopter ferrying pilgrims to the Vaishno Devi temple at Sanjhichat, crashed near Katra on Monday, November 23.

The pilot is identified as Sonia Vijayan. It is said that three out of six passengers were from Delhi and the rest three hailed from Jammu.

Some pilgrims prefer private helicopters to and from Katra in the Trikuta mountains rather than travelling by road. Helicopter services start from Katra on the foothills and drop the pilgrims at Sanjhichatt.

More details awaited.
