New Delhi: Licypriya Kangujam, a seven-year-old girl from Manipur stood near the Parliament building on Friday, June 21, holding a placard addressed to the Prime Minister and Memebers of Parliament.
The seven-year-old second grader, through her placard, plead with the government to pass a climate change law and save then future of India’s next generation.
“Dear Mr Modi and MPs, pass the climate change law and save our future,” Kangujam’s placard read.

Speaking to ANI, the young activist said, “I urge the PM and all the MPs to act on climate change now and save our future. The sea levels are increasing and the Earth is becoming hotter. They should act now.”
It can be recalled that earlier this year, in April, Kangujam addressed the United Nations at their headquarters in Geneva in Switzerland during the sixth session of Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction 2019. The programme’s theme was “Resilience Dividend: Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Societies”. Reportedly, she was also invited to the 2018 Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risks Reduction held in the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar.
She is currently a Child Disaster Risks Reduction Advocate in International Youth Committee (IYC).
