BIDAR: A non-clinical supervisor at BRIMS Hospital has been accused of sexual harassment by female staff members, prompting them to seek justice from Karnataka State Women’s Commission Chairperson Dr. Nagalakshmi Chaudhary.

“Give me justice, or I will end my life right here,” wept Lakshmi, a Group ‘D’ employee, as she fell at Dr. Chaudhary’s feet during her visit to BRIMS on Thursday.

Lakshmi alleged that Prakash Malge, a hospital supervisor, had been harassing her for a year, threatening her with dire consequences if she did not comply with his demands. He allegedly stopped marking her attendance as part of his intimidation tactics. Despite lodging complaints with police and hospital authorities, no action had been taken.

Dr. Chaudhary consoled Lakshmi and assured a thorough investigation. “Stay strong,” she urged, promising that the matter would be escalated to the concerned authorities.

Later, speaking to reporters, Dr. Chaudhary assured strict action against those responsible. She also reviewed hospital conditions, noting that cleanliness had improved, restrooms were cleaned, and water tanks sanitized. However, she flagged concerns over stolen solar panels and directed the BRIMS director to take corrective measures.

Present at the visit were Additional Deputy Commissioner Shivakumar Sheelavant, BRIMS Director Dr. Shivakumar Shetkar, District Health Officer Dr. Dhyaneshwar Neeragudi, and other officials.
