Indore/Shillong: In a shocking turn in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, four accused — Sonam Raghuvanshi, Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Raj Singh Kushwaha — are set to be taken to Shillong by Meghalaya Police after completing transit remand procedures.
DCP Dandotiya confirmed that the four are currently in the Indore Police Commissionerate, where Shillong police have already questioned them. “Transit remand for three was secured yesterday, and the fourth — Sonam — was arrested today. They will be taken to Shillong later today,” he told ANI.
Sonam Raghuvanshi, the victim’s wife, and Raj Kushwaha are believed to be the main conspirators in the murder. According to officials, Sonam allegedly hired contract killers to eliminate her husband during their honeymoon in Meghalaya.
Sonam was earlier found near a dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur road and held by UP police at a women’s shelter. She was handed over to Meghalaya Police after a medical check at Ghazipur District Hospital.
Meghalaya Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong confirmed four arrests and said that one more suspect is still absconding. Sonam reportedly surrendered voluntarily, and all accused are being taken to Shillong for deeper investigation.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Meghalaya stated that post-mortem results revealed two fatal head injuries on Raja. The couple had gone missing during their honeymoon, and Raja’s body was later found in Meghalaya.
