Six tech professionals, all in their 30s and former or current employees of a major multinational corporation (MNC) in Hyderabad, were arrested by prohibition and excise officials for drug possession during a birthday party at a farmhouse in Medipally village, Shankarpally, on Saturday night.
During the late-night raid around 2am, officials seized 0.05 grams of LSD blots, hashish oil, a scotch bottle, and three vehicles — a BMW, Jeep, and Datsun Go.
The accused have been identified as Abhijith Banerjee, Simpson, Parthu, Goyal, Yashwanth Reddy, and Sevio Dennis. According to excise officials, all six tested positive for drug use.
Investigations revealed that Abhijith sourced the drugs from Himachal Pradesh and had previously shared hashish oil with two of the co-accused. The gathering was reportedly organized to celebrate a recent promotion and Abhijith’s birthday.
Authorities were acting on a prior tip-off about drug abuse at the venue.
“We had intelligence that a group was planning to consume narcotics at the farmhouse. The raid confirmed the suspicion,” officials stated.
All six individuals are residents of various localities across Hyderabad. Since the quantity of LSD recovered exceeded 0.02 grams, they have been booked under the NDPS Act and placed under arrest.
