Konaseema, Andhra Pradesh, October 8, 2025 — A devastating explosion occurred at the Lakshmi Ganapathi Fireworks unit in Komaripalem village, Rayavaram mandal, in the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, resulting in the deaths of six workers and injuries to eight others.

The incident took place in the afternoon when a massive fire broke out at the licensed firecracker manufacturing facility. The intense blaze led to the collapse of the factory shed, trapping workers inside. Fire services personnel faced significant challenges in controlling the fire due to the presence of highly flammable chemicals used in the production process.

Among the injured, two individuals were critically hurt and have been admitted to a hospital in Anaparthy, while the others are receiving treatment at private medical facilities. Authorities are concerned that more workers may be trapped under the rubble, as approximately 15 individuals were present at the site when the explosion occurred.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the explosion may have been caused by mishandling of explosive materials or malfunctioning equipment. Police have registered a case and initiated a detailed inquiry into the incident.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his shock and grief over the tragedy. He has directed senior officials to visit the site personally to oversee relief efforts and ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical care. Home Minister V. Anitha has also conveyed her condolences and is in contact with district authorities to monitor the situation closely.

This incident adds to a series of similar tragedies in the state, raising concerns about safety standards in firecracker manufacturing units.
