Six-month horror: woman’s body found rotting in fridge in MP

A gruesome crime was uncovered in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, when the decomposing body of Pratibha Prajapati was discovered in a fridge. For over six months, the locked room containing the fridge remained untouched while a family lived next door, unaware of the hidden tragedy. The prime suspect, Sanjay Patidar, her live-in partner, was arrested shortly after the revelation.

Police reports indicate that Patidar strangled Pratibha during a heated argument over her demands for marriage. He, along with an accomplice, placed her body in the fridge, set it to the coldest temperature, and vacated the property, returning periodically to check on the body. The crime surfaced when the current tenant unplugged the refrigerator, leading to a foul smell that drew neighbors’ complaints.

Pratibha, known for her sociable nature and her bangle business, had reportedly been missing since March 2024. Patidar, married with children, allegedly fabricated excuses about her absence. Authorities are coordinating with Rajasthan police to question his accomplice, currently jailed for another crime. Evidence has been collected, and investigations continue as locals reel from the shock of the horrific incident.
