In a dramatic turn of events, Hussain Ahmed Majumdar, a 32-year-old hotel employee from Cachar district, Assam, who went missing after being slapped mid-flight during a panic attack, was found at Barpeta railway station, nearly 800 km from Kolkata.

Majumdar had boarded IndiGo flight 6E-138 from Mumbai to Kolkata on Thursday and was scheduled to take a connecting flight to Silchar the following day. Mid-air, he reportedly suffered a panic attack, prompting crew members to assist him. During this, a co-passenger, Hafijul Rahman, slapped him—a moment captured on video that quickly went viral.

Rahman, when confronted, claimed Majumdar was causing “problems.” Upon landing in Kolkata, Rahman was handed over to police but later released. Majumdar, visibly shaken, also left the airport and did not board his next flight.

His family, unaware of the incident, waited for him at Silchar airport and later filed a missing person complaint after failing to reach him.

Police investigations revealed he had not taken any further flights. Eventually, he was located at Barpeta railway station, approximately 400 km from Silchar. Authorities noted he seemed mentally distressed and he is now en route to reunite with his family.

Meanwhile, IndiGo has banned Hafijul Rahman from flying with them, citing zero tolerance for unruly behavior.
