A family outing at Maharashtra’s popular Amboli Waterfall turned frightening when a large snake suddenly fell onto a man carrying a toddler, sending tourists into a panic. The incident was captured on video and has since attracted attention online.
Snake drops from rocks onto man
The incident reportedly occurred at Amboli Waterfall in Sindhudurg district, a popular monsoon destination in the Sahyadri Hills.
According to NDTV, the man was carrying the small child across the slippery terrain while other family members stood nearby. Without warning, the snake fell from the rocks above and landed on his shoulder, coming dangerously close to the child.
The man appeared startled as the snake quickly slipped away into crevices in the rocks before moving out of sight. Other visitors could be heard screaming and moving away from the area.
Snake species remains unconfirmed
One person in the video can reportedly be heard calling the reptile a cobra. However, the exact species of the snake has not been confirmed.
The incident has also renewed attention to the risks visitors can face at waterfalls and other natural attractions during the monsoon. Dense vegetation, wet rocks and crevices can provide shelter for snakes and other wildlife.
Tourists visiting such locations are advised to remain alert, avoid approaching animals and maintain a safe distance from rocky or heavily vegetated areas.
