Snowfall halts exams in North India’s high-altitude regions
Board exams in the snow-affected regions of Pangi (Chamba) and Lahaul-Spiti have been postponed due to extreme weather and blocked roads, officials confirmed on Monday. Originally set for March 4, the exams will now take place after March 8, depending on weather conditions.
Heavy snowfall and rainfall have disrupted transport, preventing the delivery of exam materials. Board Secretary Vishal Sharma stated that if conditions improve, exams will be conducted alongside the rest of the state, with revised dates to be announced soon.
Meanwhile, board exams across other districts will commence as scheduled on March 4. This year, 1.95 lakh students will appear for Class 10 and 12 exams across 2,300 centers—an increase from 2,250 last year.
To ensure fairness, the board has deployed flying squads and officials for surprise inspections. Updates on the rescheduled exams will be shared based on logistical feasibility.
