New Delhi: The verdict on the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case will be delivered by a special CBI court on December 21. Sheikh and his wife Kausar Bi were killed in November 2005 by the police near Gandhinagar in Gujarat.
Tulsiram Prajapati was a witness to the crime as he was with the couple during the encounter but even he was killed in another shootout in December 6. Police claimed that Prajapati was trying to escape and they had no other option but to shoot him.
The lawyers of the 22 accused made their submissions to Special CBI Judge S J Sharma and the final arguments of the case ended on Wednesday, November 5.
Gujarat IPS officer Rajkumar Pandian, former Gujarat ATS chief D G Vanzara, Gujarat police officer N K Amin, Rajasthan cadre IPS officer Dinesh M N and Rajasthan police constable Dalpat Singh Rathod were discharged from the case by a trial court in July. However, the high court had reserved the verdict on the five revision applications challenging the discharge.
