Chittoor: A 55-year-old man was allegedly killed by his son after a family dispute turned violent at Manikyarayunipalle in Penumuru mandal of Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Chengareddy. His elder son, Jokesh Reddy, has been accused of attacking him with a knife following an argument.
Drunken quarrel leads to confrontation
According to police, Jokesh Reddy works as a JCB driver at a gravel factory near Yellampalle, while his wife, Chudamani, is a teacher at a private school in Penumuru. The couple lives in Penumuru.
Police said Jokesh allegedly frequently abused his wife after consuming alcohol. On Wednesday night, after he reportedly returned home drunk and began harassing her, Chudamani called Chengareddy and sought his intervention.
She reportedly told him that Jokesh was intoxicated and causing trouble and asked him to come and take his son away.
Jokesh then took the phone from his wife and reportedly told his father that he was coming to Manikyarayunipalle on a motorcycle.
Laughter allegedly triggers fatal attack
After Jokesh reached the village, an argument reportedly broke out between father and son. Police said Jokesh became enraged when Chengareddy allegedly laughed at him during the dispute.
Jokesh allegedly attacked his father with a knife, causing a fatal injury to his throat, before fleeing the spot.
Police reached the location after receiving information about the incident and began an investigation. Efforts are underway to trace Jokesh and establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder.
The incident has left the family and residents shocked, as a domestic dispute reportedly escalated into a fatal attack within minutes.
