A heart-wrenching double tragedy unfolded near Parampur village under Jansa police limits on Wednesday night, where a young man lost his life in a bike mishap, followed by his mother’s suicide the next morning.
According to police, 27-year-old Vinay Kumar Singh, a resident of Ram Raipur village under Lohta police station, was riding his motorcycle on Ring Road around 10 PM. Under unclear circumstances, he lost control and suffered severe injuries. Alerted by passersby, police promptly arrived and rushed him to the trauma centre, but doctors declared him brought dead.
The devastating news was conveyed to his family, who soon reached the hospital. Vinay’s mother, Samlavati Devi (56), reportedly fainted upon hearing of her son’s untimely death. Overwhelmed by grief, she later went to Bankat village, where she ended her life by jumping in front of a speeding train around 5 AM on Thursday.
Police were informed about the second incident and recovered her body, which was sent for post-mortem examination. Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding both deaths.
