A female SpiceJet employee was arrested on Thursday for allegedly slapping a CISF officer on duty at Jaipur airport amidst a dispute over security screening, according to police sources.
SpiceJet issued a statement describing the incident as a case of serious sexual harassment, alleging that the CISF officer had used inappropriate language towards their employee. However, CISF officials refuted these claims, asserting that their officer was simply performing his duties.
Police authorities stated they are currently investigating the conflicting accounts provided by both parties.
The altercation reportedly occurred around 4:30 am at one of the airport entrances when CISF Assistant Sub Inspector Giriraj Prasad prevented the SpiceJet employee from entering without undergoing frisking. As there were no female CISF personnel present for the screening, an argument ensued.
According to Jaipur airport SHO Ram Lal, ASI Prasad then summoned a female colleague to conduct the security check, but tensions escalated and the SpiceJet employee allegedly slapped him.
A video of the incident shows the airline employee approaching the CISF ASI during the argument and slapping him before being escorted away by other airport staff members.
Following a complaint from CISF, a case was registered at the Airport Police Station.
SpiceJet’s statement emphasized that their female employee possessed a valid airport entry pass issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), and accused the CISF personnel of using unacceptable language, including making inappropriate personal invitations.
In response, CISF Commandant Narpat Singh denied the allegations of misconduct, affirming that their officer had acted in accordance with his duties. A complaint has been filed against the SpiceJet employee for assaulting an on-duty official, with further proceedings to follow as per standard protocols.
Charan Singh, Coordination In-charge at the Airport Authority of India, Jaipur, confirmed that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
