On Sunday, Sikkim’s Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Karnataka’s Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar participated in the sacred ritual of taking a dip in the Triveni Sangam during the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. This revered event, which commenced on January 13 and will run until February 26, has already attracted millions of devotees from all corners of India and beyond.
Both political figures expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards the Uttar Pradesh government for the invitation and praised the meticulous arrangements made for the grand event. Sikkim CM Tamang shared his feeling of being blessed, thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath for organizing the occasion and extending an invitation. He emphasized the significance of peace, unity, and urged everyone to witness this remarkable spiritual event at least once in their lifetime.
Despite facing some criticism, Shivakumar also commended the event’s flawless organization, acknowledging the efforts put in by the authorities to manage such a large gathering. He expressed delight in experiencing the confluence of the sacred rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati, calling it a spiritually enriching experience. Shivakumar highlighted the Kumbh’s role in bringing people together and fostering harmony, while also addressing concerns raised regarding a recent stampede, urging constructive criticism and improvements for future events.
