Srinagar: In a shocking incident, a girl from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district committed suicide by consuming poison on Saturday after being repeatedly raped by her father. She was rushed to a hospital after she consumed poison where she succumbed, the police said.
Police after receiving compliant had taken the body to Bandipora hospital for conducting a postmortem and the accused father has been arrested.
The victim’s sister also revealed that her father had been raping her for years. But she was unable to reveal it to anyone for the fear of getting killed. The accused has made several attempts to rape her as well about which she had informed her grandfather, who asked her to remain silent. “I told my grandfather but he told me to not to reveal it to anyone as it would be a humiliation for the family,”
SSP Bandipora Rahul Malik while confirming the incident said that they have registered an FIR and the accused father has been arrested.
“Case FIR No 04/2019 U/S 506,376,306 has been registered in Police Station Aragam against the accused and investigation has been started in the matter,” he said.
