A 12-year-old boy was allegedly beaten to death with stones and sticks by his stepfather in Shastri Park area of Delhi, police said on Friday. The accused is currently absconding, and a search operation is underway.
Police said the victim’s mother allegedly came to know about the incident through a purported video in which her husband was seen admitting to the crime. Officials said the authenticity of the video is being verified as part of the investigation.
Body found near loop road, police alerted
According to police, the boy was found dead near the Shastri Park Chowk loop road on Thursday morning. Information about the incident was received at the Shastri Park Police Station around 9.50 am.
A police team rushed to the spot and found the child lying unconscious near the roadside. He was later declared dead. Forensic teams inspected the area and collected evidence from the crime scene.
Manhunt launched, investigation underway
Police said preliminary investigation points towards an assault using stones and sticks. The motive behind the attack is yet to be established. Officers are questioning relatives and locals while conducting raids to trace the accused.
