
Storms to bring much-needed relief from Telangana’s searing heat
Residents of Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana can finally look forward to a break from the relentless summer heat. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad has sounded an orange alert for intense thunderstorms, predicting heavy lightning, strong winds blowing at 40-50 kmph, and chances of hailstorms in specific districts on March 23.
The orange-level warning has been specifically issued for the districts of Nizamabad, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy. These regions should brace for high-impact weather events.
Additionally, the IMD has placed a yellow alert—indicating moderate thunderstorms—accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph, for several other districts over the weekend. Districts covered under this advisory include Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Jagtial, Rajanna Sirsilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal.
Weather enthusiast T Balaji, known by his popular handle TelanganaWeatherman on X, stated that Telangana is likely to witness intense storms between March 22 and 24. He highlighted that Central and North Telangana will see activity first, followed by South and Eastern regions.
The IMD added that daytime temperatures will remain steady over the next three days before dipping slightly below normal thereafter.
